The ratings of Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited ("PSMC" or "the Company") reflect its established position within Pakistan's automotive industry, underpinned by its longstanding association with Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan. The Company maintains a diversified product portfolio spanning passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and automotive parts, with operations encompassing local assembly and distribution supported by an extensive nationwide dealer network. PSMC continues to draw on the strategic oversight, technical expertise, and ongoing operational support of its principal shareholder, which underpins the Company's market standing and product development capabilities. Pakistan's passenger vehicle industry sustained its growth momentum through FY26, with passenger car sales rising ~39% year on year to 155.6k units, as reported by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA). This performance was supported by moderating inflation, lower financing costs, and a comparatively stable exchange rate, which together improved consumer sentiment and affordability. The period also saw a number of new model launches by recently established original equipment manufacturers. The competitive landscape continues to evolve with the entry of additional assemblers and international brands, particularly within the hybrid, crossover, and sport utility vehicle categories, alongside a gradual expansion in plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle offerings. Government initiatives aimed at deepening localization remain supportive of the sector's longer-term development. PSMC operates under an established governance framework, with effective board oversight of the Company's strategic and operational direction. During CY25, the Company recorded a notable recovery in business volumes, with sales growth of ~35.3%, broadly in line with the pace of industry expansion, while its market share in the passenger car segment was maintained at ~59%. Gross and operating margins softened during the period, reflecting a shift in sales mix, evolving pricing dynamics, and prevailing cost pressures. Net profitability, while lower in the absence of the foreign exchange gain reported in the preceding year, remained at a healthy level. The Company's financial risk profile continues to be supported by sound cash flow generation and a prudently managed working capital cycle. The capital structure reflected a modest uptick in leverage during the period, primarily on account of short-term borrowings deployed to meet incremental working capital requirements, while long-term debt remained limited and was availed under the subsidized Temporary Economic Refinance Facility (TERF) scheme. Looking ahead, PSMC plans to introduce additional vehicle models by the end of CY26, aimed at broadening its product portfolio and strengthening its responsiveness to shifting consumer preferences. The recent launch of the Suzuki Fronx has extended the Company's presence into the XUV/crossover vehicle segment, which is supported by its mild hybrid technology, and is expected to contribute to sales growth and further product diversification going forward.
The ratings are dependent upon the Company's ability to sustain its market position amid intensifying competition, maintain prudent inventory and working capital management, and preserve comfortable liquidity and coverage indicators. Furthermore, continued improvement in profitability metrics, successful introduction of planned vehicle models, and maintenance of a conservative leverage profile will remain important considerations for the assigned ratings.
